About the Position

This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires performing emergency and non-emergency tasks in the areas of fire suppression, hazardous materials, technical rescue, water rescue, fire prevention, emergency or disaster preparedness, as well as responding to emergency medical calls and performing skilled Basic Life Support (BLS).

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general duty firefighting work, including emergency and non-emergency tasks
  • Respond to emergency medical calls and perform skilled Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Participate in fire prevention and emergency or disaster preparedness activities
  • Operate and maintain firefighting equipment and vehicles
  • Collaborate with other emergency responders and city departments to ensure effective response to emergencies
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalency
  • Attainment of the age of 21 years by date of hire
  • U.S. Citizenship or a lawful permanent resident
  • Excellent physical condition
  • Ability and willingness to successfully complete the mandated course of instruction at the Everett Fire Department Sponsored academy and subsequent department field training programs
  • Ability and willingness to obtain Washington State Department of Social and Health Services certification as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and maintain such certification for the duration of employment
  • Submission to a thorough background check; psychological, physical, and medical check; employment reference check; and verification of all applicable certifications
  • Attainment of Department standards of physical condition
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire, a Washington State Driver License and maintain such license for the duration of employment
