Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Health Information Specialist to join our team at Savannah River Nuclear Solutions. As a key member of our Medical Department, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records for all individuals undergoing physical/health evaluations at our site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain medical records for all individuals undergoing physical/health evaluations, including filing test results, summaries, X-rays, blood chemistries, and related correspondence.
  • Analyze records for completion of content and prepare records for indexing into the Electronic Document Workflow System (EDWS).
  • Enter exam data into the electronic health record, including demographic and test results data such as EKG, medical history, physical exam, medical clearance for respiratory protection, audiometric, pulmonary, etc.
  • Handle releases of Health Information requests and obtain medical data from outside agencies as required by site physicians.
  • Schedule physical examinations and process and mail exam notices to active employees and eligible retirees.
  • Perform receptionist duties, including greeting employees, directing them to the proper service area, and overseeing patient flow through Medical.
  • Utilize equipment such as computers, fax machines, microfiche reader/printer, copiers, and other office-related equipment and supplies.
Requirements
  • Relevant experience (within the last three years) working with health information databases and medical records processes within a healthcare facility or physician's office.
  • Ability to complete the core elements of the Medical training plan.
  • Experience and practical working knowledge of EMRs.
  • An understanding of basic medical terminology is preferred.
