Production Team Leader

Overview
The Production Team Leader is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of the paint line, machine shop, and welding teams. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of production processes and methodologies to ensure the delivery of high-quality products.
Key Responsibilities
- Achieves manufacturing objectives by clearly communicating expectations to team members; plans, evaluates, and reviews job performance; provides coaching, guidance, and disciplinary actions as necessary while upholding company policies and procedures.
- Ensures optimal staffing levels through timely recruitment and training; fosters employee retention by identifying growth opportunities and promoting collaboration across departments.
- Monitors workflow by overseeing each step of the production process; identifies variables and equipment capabilities to determine the best course of action; effectively allocates personnel and resources; seeks cost-saving measures; develops necessary reporting systems; facilitates prompt resolution of equipment issues.
- Completes production schedules by assigning tasks to capable personnel; sets priorities; tracks progress; adjusts schedules as needed; resolves challenges; reports on departmental performance during shift production reviews.
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintains service quality by establishing and enforcing organizational standards.
- Ensures equipment functionality by notifying maintenance for repairs; participates in the evaluation of new tools and techniques as required.
- Promotes a safe and clean work environment by educating and training team members on equipment and material usage; ensures compliance with all safety regulations.
- Enhances professional and technical knowledge by attending relevant workshops.
- Provides management with manufacturing insights by compiling and analyzing production performance data.
Supervisory Duties
This position oversees all departmental employees and is accountable for their performance management and recruitment.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of raw materials, production techniques, quality assurance, and cost management.
- Familiarity with machinery and tools, including their design, application, maintenance, and repair.
- Ability to identify and address delays in production operations to meet delivery deadlines.
- Capacity to prioritize tasks, work independently, and pursue objectives effectively.
- Competence in resolving recurring issues.
- Strong judgment and decision-making abilities.
- Skills to motivate, empower, and build trust within the team.
- Proficient understanding of assembly and machining processes.
- Basic proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience and Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of experience in assembly or machining roles.
- Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
