Job Summary

Cianbro is seeking a skilled Structural Steel Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our heavy construction team, you will be responsible for safely positioning and uniting steel girders, columns, and other structural members to form completed structures or structural frameworks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read specifications and blueprints to determine the locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required.
  • Set up hoisting equipment for raising and placing structural steel members.
  • Verify alignment and plumbing of steel structures and make corrections as needed.
  • Connect columns, beams, and girders with bolts following blueprints.
  • Weld structural members with consistent quality and safe work practices.
  • Troubleshoot by understanding blueprints, identifying issues, and taking corrective actions.
  • Perform initial QA/QC checks on finished work to ensure conformance with specifications.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience with layout, connecting, and rigging.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in structural welding.
  • Ability to pass an FCAW and SMAW Certification Test for structural welders.
  • Proficient in the use of cutting torch, plasma arcs, and cutting machines.
  • Ability to work at all heights.
  • Ability to read blueprints, interpret symbols, and abbreviations on plans and drawings.
  • Prior rigging experience, including knowledge of hand signals, rigging gear, inspection, and proper use.
