Job Overview

Position Summary

This role is integral to the operations of Corrosion Monitoring Services, focusing on the upkeep and restoration of air heating systems and thermal exchangers.

Key Responsibilities

The primary duties associated with this position include:

  • Demolition of compromised materials utilizing various techniques (carbon arc cutting, chipping, grinding)
  • Extraction of damaged components through multiple methods
  • Preparation of existing materials for reconstruction with new elements
  • Reassembly of air heaters and thermal exchangers
  • Repairing Mechanical Draft Cooling systems and replacing expansion joints
  • Welding in new components as necessary
  • Setting up and dismantling job site equipment
  • Working in confined environments
  • Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including a respirator
  • Staying updated with all mandatory in-house safety training
  • Executing all tasks to a specified standard to uphold QA/QC protocols

Required Qualifications

The essential qualifications for this role include:

  • Willingness and ability to travel, with typical arrangements provided by the employer, including travel, accommodation, and per diem
  • Must be in good physical condition and pass a drug and alcohol screening
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License

Work Environment

This position necessitates extensive travel across various locations, depending on job assignments. Work sites may include, but are not limited to, power generation facilities, waste-to-energy plants, pulp and paper production sites, and cement manufacturing plants.

  • Working in confined spaces
  • Operating in environments that require a respirator and adequate ventilation

Physical Demands

This role is physically intensive. The physical requirements include:

  • Lifting and pulling weights ranging from 40 to 100 pounds
  • Ability to ascend a minimum of 5 flights of stairs
  • Working shifts of 10 to 12 hours, occasionally extending to 15 hours
  • Availability to work 7 days a week
  • Kneeling, standing, squatting, and performing overhead tasks
  • Capability to fit into confined spaces and small openings
  • Passing a medical evaluation and fit test

Additional Information

This is a seasonal role, meaning it involves recurring periods of work that are less than 12 months each year. Seasonal employees are considered permanent staff who may be placed in non-duty/non-pay status and recalled based on established employment conditions. Seasonal employees are eligible for the same benefits as full-time employees, provided they meet the eligibility criteria.

Compensation will be determined based on experience and skill level. The pay scale is as follows:

Laborers - $21.50-$26.50/hr. (novice to journeyman)

Welders - $27.00-$40.00/hr. (novice to master)

Millwrights - $27.00-$33.50/hr. (novice to journeyman)

Travel is a requirement for all field personnel.
