Job Title: Optical Trainee

Join our team at Danbury Mission Technologies, a leading provider of innovative technologies and solutions, as an Optical Trainee. In this role, you will be part of the Optical Manufacturing team, responsible for producing precision optics using advanced grinding and polishing machines.

Responsibilities:
  • Learn to grind, polish, and figure various optical materials to specified tolerances under close supervision.
  • Develop the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and instructions to aid in machining and processing of optical materials.
  • Assist in maintaining productivity and efficiency, meeting scheduled delivery dates through effective communication within the work group.
  • Work with other Optical Manufacturing Technicians to develop basic machining and manufacturing skills.
  • Comply with all environmental, health, and safety requirements.
  • Clean machinery and maintain a clean work area.
  • Support Quality Calibration to maintain compliance.
Requirements:
  • HS Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Basic knowledge of optical materials.
  • Ability to perform problem-solving tasks.
  • Strong math aptitude, including trigonometry and geometry.
  • Ability to maintain flexibility and assist others as needed.
Working Conditions:

The employee will use protective equipment to work with chemicals, move between workstations, reach and replace equipment, and move items weighing up to 25 lbs.
