Role Summary:

The Quality Inspector role involves collaborating with various teams regarding internal and customer-related product discrepancies. This position is integral to problem-solving initiatives and continuous improvement efforts. Responsibilities include basic inspection tasks, executing sorting and containment actions, and managing records within the Oracle system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-process and final inspections in designated areas, including but not limited to paint/plating, machining, sheet metal, subassembly, electronics, and shipping/receiving.
  • Measure and test components and assemblies according to specified requirements utilizing appropriate gauges and testing equipment.
  • Isolate non-conforming parts to a designated containment area.
  • Communicate quality-related concerns or issues to the respective department leads.
  • Retrieve and contain affected nonconforming items from production and inventory; organize and perform sorting activities.
  • Manage material transactions in Oracle (including actions such as release to stock, next operation, reject, scrap, etc.).
  • Contribute to Continuous Improvement initiatives (such as Kaizen, Lean methodologies, Value Analysis/Value Engineering, and 8D problem-solving).
  • Pause production, communicate effectively, and initiate corrective measures for any conditions that may lead to substandard quality.
  • Identify and propose enhancements related to material flow, quality assurance, testing, and inspection processes that could optimize cost, delivery, or quality.
  • Maintain and update records within the Inspection Department.
  • Engage in structured problem-solving teams.

Qualifications:

Essential Skills:

  • Basic computer literacy.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.

Post-Hire Training Requirements: (To be completed within two years)

  • Print reading course (LMC) or equivalent.
  • Precision inspection course (LMC) or equivalent.
  • Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Training.
  • Soldering Training.
  • Fundamental Quality Skills.
  • Handling hazardous materials for testing.
  • Oracle collection plan training.

Education/Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
