We are seeking a highly skilled Production Supervisor to oversee the Weld Line operation at our Rail Mill facility. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing, directing, and managing a team of employees to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective manufacture of high-quality rail products.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain Accurate Payroll Records: Review, edit, and approve employee time cards daily using the KRONOS Pay System.
- Conduct Safety Meetings and Training: Lead shift safety meetings, train employees on safe work practices, and conduct daily safe job observations to ensure a safe working environment.
- Implement Lean Manufacturing Principles: Use LEAN tools from the EVRAZ Business System to engage employees in continuous improvement of mill operations.
- Supervise Shipping and Production: Oversee the shipping of finished product and develop strategies to improve production efficiency.
- Develop and Coach Employees: Develop, coach, and train employees to improve their skills and knowledge, and monitor daily production to ensure maximum productivity.
- Maintain Collective Bargaining Agreements and Company Policies: Maintain a good working knowledge of collective bargaining agreements and applicable company policies.
- Write and Issue Improvement Action Reports: Write and issue Improvement Action Reports (IARs) as needed per company policy.
- Process and Document Grievances: Process and document grievances as the first step in the grievance resolution process.
- Steel Manufacturing Experience: Three years of steel manufacturing experience.
- Supervisory Experience: One year of front-line supervisory or team leader experience managing cross-functional teams.
- Technical Knowledge: Knowledge and experience with flash butt welding of rail or special sections, sawing and gag press operations, process troubleshooting, and material flow logistics.
- Communication Skills: Proven ability to professionally communicate, in written and verbal forms.
- Technical Skills: Functional knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to organize and motivate production teams for safe, high-quality results and maximum productivity.
- Education: Associates degree in a technical field or equivalent, preferred.
- Experience: Three years of rail or special section finishing experience or rail welding experience, preferred.
- Preferred Skills: Experience with database development, statistical process control, process control and automation technologies, and lean manufacturing principles, preferred.
- Oracle Experience: Experience with Oracle quality and production modules and Oracle 11i requisitioning, preferred.
- Time Management Skills: Strong time management skills.
- Teamwork: Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
- Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,900.
