Job Overview

The Estimator plays a crucial role in the precise and prompt formulation of cost estimates for bidding projects. This position requires a comprehensive understanding of construction methodologies, cost structures, and engineering principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess labor and equipment expenses.
  • Generate accurate quantity takeoffs and material cost assessments.
  • Solicit quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Analyze bid documents and evaluate project risks.
  • Comprehend project logistics and timelines.
  • Evaluate and compare competitive bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with the Project Management Team to review estimates.
  • Prepare estimates at various stages of project completion.
  • Conduct post-bid buyouts as necessary.
  • Engage in pre-construction meetings with Clients, Owners, Subcontractors, and Engineers.
  • Execute additional related tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management.
  • Experience in Site Work/Earth Moving and Utility projects.
  • Familiarity with public works projects is advantageous.
  • Proficient in estimating software, with HeavyBid experience preferred.
  • Strong presentation capabilities.
  • Advanced skills in MS Office applications.
  • Knowledge of on-screen take-off software such as Bluebeam or PlanSwift.
  • In-depth understanding of construction costs and engineering principles.
  • Familiarity with horizontal and infrastructure project components.
  • Highly organized, adaptable, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and consistently meet deadlines amidst changing demands.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
