Radiology Suite Operations Manager

Job Summary

Excela Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Radiology Suite Operations Manager to oversee the daily operation of the Radiology suite. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for supervising the activities of staff radiologic technologists, assisting in performing annual appraisals, and conducting training on radiology equipment.

Essential Job Functions

1. Assists in developing necessary forms, procedures, and protocols.
2. Confers with orthopedists to determine proper imaging protocol.
3. Confers with department manager to determine proper procedures/guidelines.
4. Develops and implements new forms as needed for operations.
5. Provides for the safety of patients and visitors.
6. Oversees daily QC/preventative maintenance on equipment.
7. Maintains records on equipment calibration/service.
8. Reports any necessary equipment malfunction to service provider.
9. Evaluates new products/equipment.
10. Assists the manager in determining the value of new products/equipment to meet the needs of the department.
11. Reviews new products/equipment on the basis of cost effectiveness.
12. Makes recommendations for capital purchases of new equipment to department manager.
13. Maintains or changes patient/technologist schedule to provide accessibility and high quality services.
14. Provides proper scheduling for procedures.
15. Prepares technologist schedule for review by department manager.
16. Maintains department statistics and records required by federal, state, and local agencies.
17. Assists in any necessary accreditations.
18. Assists department manager in the development of performance improvement initiatives.
19. Develops cost saving initiatives.
20. Develops better patient care initiatives.
21. Oversees training, hiring, and education.
22. Performs annual performance appraisals on diagnostic radiology staff.
23. Assists in interviews for diagnostic radiology positions.
24. Orients new employees to department.
25. Maintains continuing education for staff.
26. Oversees PACS system and related functions.
27. Assists PAC coordinator in maintenance functions of the PACS/CR system.
28. Assists PACS coordinator in daily operations of PACS/CR system.
29. Verifies correct image/patient data is maintained in PACS system.
30. Evaluates new PACS/CR/Software/equipment.
31. Performs all job duties of a staff radiologic technologist.
32. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Completion of a (JRCERT) accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
• Three years' experience as Registered Radiologic Technologist with credentials with ARRT
• Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, and sound judgment.
• Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.
• Medical Terminology
• Functional Skills on PC and Related Software (Microsoft Office)
• Knowledge of basic Office Equipment such as copier, fax machine, etc.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous supervisory experience
• Previous PACS experience

License, Certification & Clearances

• Current Registry with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program.
• Act 33 with renewal
• Act 34 with renewal
• Act 73 FBI Clearance

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).

Travel

Travel may be expected locally between Excela Health locations.
