Position Overview:

The role of an educator involves fulfilling instructional responsibilities as designated, which includes delivering engaging lessons in essential subjects, practical skills, and professional conduct. The educator exemplifies, directs, and assesses student performance in required clinical competencies. Additionally, the educator is responsible for creating and providing high-quality academic support and certification preparation services as needed. The educator oversees student information, assesses student progress, maintains high levels of student engagement, demonstrates and teaches professionalism, and implements institutional policies and initiatives. Responsiveness to student needs and feedback is crucial to maintaining high levels of student satisfaction. Collaboration with program and institutional leadership, as well as cross-departmental representatives, is essential to enhance academic success, retention, certification, graduation, and placement outcomes.

This position reports to the Director of the Medical Assistant Program.

Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Duties:

  • Deliver curriculum content according to established schedules and standards to ensure student satisfaction.
  • Prepare thoroughly for each instructional week and demonstrate proficiency with relevant software and course materials.
  • Assess student work against defined learning outcomes and assist students in achieving their full potential.
  • Provide timely feedback on assignments and assessments, highlighting strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Keep students informed of their academic progress through continuous evaluation.
  • Maintain availability for students through designated office hours and individual sessions.
  • Foster a positive, student-centered learning environment.
  • Develop and implement supplementary materials to accommodate diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Offer academic support for students requiring intervention.
  • Proactively monitor student achievement and reach out to at-risk students to promote course persistence.
  • Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and supervisors.
  • Supervise student externship experiences as required.
  • Provide tutoring and skill instruction as needed.
  • Participate in all required program and institutional meetings.
  • Advise students on academic, attendance, and career readiness matters.
  • Contribute to curriculum development based on expertise and industry trends.
  • Report barriers to student success and collaborate on solutions.
  • Maintain an up-to-date faculty file in compliance with institutional policies and regulations.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to ensure smooth operations.
  • Adhere to all applicable compliance requirements and regulations.

Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • 15 semester credit hours in the relevant subject area.
  • Academic preparation in the courses taught.
  • Graduation from a healthcare program.
  • At least three years of occupational experience.
  • Active industry certification/licensure as required.
  • Proficient communication skills in English.
  • Competency in MS Office and other business tools.
  • Commitment to a diverse and inclusive work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with learning management systems.
  • Post-secondary teaching experience.
  • Success in applying adult learning principles.

Working Environment:

  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Ability to work in various settings including classrooms and laboratories.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as necessary.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to perform clinical skills.
  • Physical stamina for extended periods of activity.
