Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Senior Academic Advisor to join our team at the University of Delaware. The successful candidate will provide academic advising and support services to students in the College of Engineering, with a focus on Engineering Undeclared students. This is a full-time position that requires a strong commitment to student success and a passion for working with students from diverse backgrounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide academic advising and support services to Engineering Undeclared students, including course selection, degree planning, and career exploration.
  • Work closely with faculty and staff to ensure that students receive comprehensive support and guidance throughout their academic journey.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve student retention and success rates, including early alert systems and academic support programs.
  • Collaborate with other departments and units to promote a culture of academic excellence and student success.
  • Stay up-to-date on University policies and procedures, as well as College of Engineering-specific requirements and regulations.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and four years of job-related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to grasp, retain, and disseminate an extensive and varied body of information.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze, summarize, and effectively present data.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite programs, especially with database and spreadsheets.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to present effectively to groups and to work productively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and with varying levels of academic preparation.
  • Knowledge of University policy and practices, as well as College of Engineering-specific requirements and regulations.
  • UDSIS (the University's student records system), Blue Hen Success platform, SLATE platform, and the University accounting system.
