Job Summary

This role is eligible for Mid Atlantic Retina's $1,000 Hiring Incentive. The successful candidate will receive $500 after completing 90 days of employment and $500 after completing 1 year of employment. This position is available to new hires only and is not available to agency hires, internal transfers, or re-hires.

This is a hybrid role, working from home one day per week after training is completed.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of medical billing experience in a physician office or third-party billing company preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of payment posting, rejections, and denials, account reconciliation, and following up on aged accounts.
  • Experience working with insurances, private carriers, HMOs, Medicare, and Medicaid.
  • Knowledge of benefit investigation, including obtaining eligibility information, authorizations, and referrals.
  • Experience with CPT, ICD10, Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent customer service skills and attention to detail required.

Job Responsibilities

The Medical Biller is responsible for billing and collecting from assigned payers (Medicare, Medicaid, insurance companies, patients, etc.). This role ensures all accounts are billed accurately and meets regulatory and compliance requirements. Working with relevant departments, this role is responsible for maintaining and recommending improvements in policies and procedures, taking a best practice approach. This role is also responsible for assisting and reporting monthly reports. This role requires accuracy in billing and staying up-to-date with regulatory bodies regarding compliance issues and changes in medical policies.

Physical and Cognitive Demands

  • This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing may be required. This would require the ability to occasionally lift files, bend, stoop, crouch, reach, and stand on a stool as necessary.
  • Ability to lift or move up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Work with data by calculating and manipulating numbers, processing data on a computer, classify, record, store, and retrieve information.
  • Use words to communicate ideas, read with comprehension, and explain abstract or complex ideas in more basic terms.
  • The employee will use hands to operate equipment such as a computer mouse, show manual or finger dexterity, handle things with precision or speed, use muscular coordination, and physical stamina.
