Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Technician/Mechanic I to join our team at Marotta Controls, Inc. as a key member of our space production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the assembly, calibration, and testing of solenoid valves used on rockets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the assembly of products per written procedures and/or schematics
  • Set up and operate assembly tools, including standard hand tools, micrometers, and calipers
  • Perform visual inspections to ensure quality and accuracy
  • Set up and operate test equipment, including multimeters, pressure gauges and transducers, and flow meters
  • Conduct functional testing of valve products and record results
  • Troubleshoot and rework products as needed
  • Manage or escalate issues impacting assembly and test, communicating with other technicians and team lead as necessary
  • Identify and document non-conformances and participate in corrective action resolution
  • Maintain all hand tools in clean working condition and notify supervisor of any equipment that requires repair
Requirements
  • Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow procedures
  • Computer literate, with basic PC skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office
  • 1+ years aerospace/mechanical/automotive experience is beneficial but not required
  • High school diploma or equivalent, technical/trade school preferred
Work Environment

The employee will be frequently exposed to conditions typical of a manufacturing/machine shop environment, including fluids, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, noise, and vibration. This position requires handling of abrasive chemicals and interacting in a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop environment.

  • Frequently required to repetitively use/reach with hands and arms, and to use hands to finger, handle or feel
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Regularly required to stand at length, sit, walk, stoop, bend, turn, balance, and/or crouch, and move about the facility
  • May be required to lift, stack, push, pull, and/or move items weighing up to 45 pounds
