Position: Building Engineer for EMCOR Facilities Services
Overview: EFS is seeking a skilled Building Engineer to support our operations in the East Bay area. This role is crucial for ensuring the functionality and reliability of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems within our facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electrical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and control systems.
• Conduct installations of electrical circuits and ensure the proper functioning of all building systems.
• Perform repairs on restroom fixtures and plumbing systems, including copper piping.
• Ensure systems are safely secured for maintenance activities.
• Replace ceiling tiles and repair door hardware as needed.
• Execute minor electrical tasks, such as bulb and ballast replacements.
• Regularly inspect and operate emergency generators and UPS systems.
• Request necessary materials for repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Carry out routine maintenance, including filter changes and lubrication of equipment.
• Document inspections and maintenance activities, providing reports to supervisors.
• Perform additional duties as required, adhering to contractual obligations.
Qualifications:
• A minimum of five (5) years of experience in managing central building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
- Demonstrated ability to repair and maintain building auxiliary systems.
- Proven experience in safely securing systems for maintenance.
- Skilled in brazing and soldering copper piping and threading black pipe.
- Basic carpentry skills are preferred.
- Strong understanding of fire-life safety systems and emergency generators.
- Familiarity with general building systems, including vertical lifts and overhead doors.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and perform basic arithmetic calculations.
- Knowledge of safe work practices typical for maintenance operations.
- Physical capability to perform demanding tasks, including lifting and climbing.
- Hospital experience is a plus.
Must be able to perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and climbing throughout an 8-hour workday. The role requires the ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds regularly and to handle heavier items as needed.
