RESPONSIBILITIES
Act as a technical consultant on multiple simultaneous development initiatives and provide guidance to fellow engineers.

Establish priorities, assess technical risks, and direct diverse technical teams in the development of mechanical and mechatronic systems.

Create designs for structures, mechanisms, and kinematics from component parts to system level for advanced electrical-mechanical systems.

Ensure alignment and collaboration among various engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, software, quality, regulatory) towards clear product specifications.

Design mechatronic systems that fulfill use-case, technical, operational, manufacturing, cost, and scheduling requirements.

Review and advise on key component selections, including sensors, actuators, and controllers.

Develop testing protocols and lead hardware integration, testing, debugging, and validation processes.

Execute CAD designs of mechanical systems based on load and duty-cycle analysis, kinematics studies, and manufacturability considerations.

Create detailed drawings of parts and assemblies using GD&T, ready for production.

Develop mechanical system budgets, including estimates for labor, materials, and other relevant costs.

Participate in design reviews and conduct design FMEA analyses.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
A degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant fields.

12+ years of hands-on experience in successfully developing real electrical-mechanical-controls (mechatronic) systems.

Comprehensive hardware design experience with both system-level and component-level development.

Experience in developing electrical-mechanical products for large-scale manufacturing, evidenced by specific examples of products successfully launched.

Proficiency in creating mechanical structures (weldments, sheet metal, extrusions, CNC components, materials selection) for industrial applications.

Experience in developing actuated kinematic systems from concept through to product launch.

Proven track record of delivering designs that meet and exceed product specifications, regulatory standards, and international guidelines.

Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting complex systems, including understanding the effects of tolerance stack-up, backlash, material properties, and wear/fatigue.


Expertise in Geometric Tolerancing ASME Y14.5, DFM (Design for Manufacturing), DFA (Design for Assembly), Mil Specs, surface coatings & finishing standards.

Hands-on experience with light fabrication, assembly, and maintenance of intricate electrical-mechanical systems.

Proven ability to anticipate and identify technical risks, with an engineering mindset focused on addressing these risks proactively.

Experience in project management, mentoring engineers, and collaborating with technical clients.

Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills across all levels of the organization.

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Demonstrated full-cycle experience (from early-stage ideation to production and post-launch development) of multiple hardware products.


Experience in successfully launching products in one or more of the following sectors: industrial robotics & automation, clean/renewable technologies, health & wellness technologies.

Recognized thought leadership and commitment to continuous improvement, evidenced by participation in trade associations, completion of training programs, and/or other accolades.

Familiarity with PLCs/microcontrollers; programming, architecture, and debugging skills.
