About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Applications Engineer to join our team at Powell Industries. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for assessing the costs and resources required for projects or services, analyzing project specifications, and collaborating with stakeholders to determine material, labor, and equipment needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of Powell's solutions and offerings.
  • Review and understand customer requirements in requests for proposals, including system designs, single-line drawings, site layouts, and performance guarantees.
  • Interact with other Powell divisions to develop cross-business solutions.
  • Analyze and utilize data to evaluate current market conditions and trends to drive automation solution offerings.
  • Contribute to new and existing product specifications.
  • Drive the growth of automation by building and maintaining long-lasting relationships, inspiring trust, and enhancing the client experience.
  • Assist in developing formal internal proposals, including technical budget estimates and cost justification models.
  • Become a subject matter expert in the automation space by understanding and developing solutions utilizing products from various manufacturers.
  • Ensure adherence to the company's Health, Safety & Environmental policies and procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
  • 4+ years of experience in electrical equipment estimating or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to review and interpret client-provided documents.
  • Basic understanding of networking, cybersecurity, RTUs, HMIs, SCADA systems, protective relay programming, and PLC applications.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and ERP systems, such as Oracle.
