This position involves direct involvement in the development and delivery of engine systems for the BE-4 Program, including requirements development and decomposition, risk management, verification planning and execution, and other systems engineering-related activities.

The successful candidate will work on a wide range of applications of liquid rocket engine technology, making vital technical decisions that will impact the success of each program.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with design, analysis, systems engineering, and launch vehicle customers to define optimal verification plan and test requirements for engine components for all life-cycle phases of design, development, test and flight.
  • Develop, manage and allocate requirements & interfaces and ensure requirements are accurately linked.
  • Implement systems engineering activities in accordance with system engineering standards and practices.
  • Support gated reviews
  • Review verification records (test plans, test reports, analysis reports, inspection reports, etc.) to ensure the appropriate rigor and ensure the test program is executed in alignment with system requirements
  • Ensure all aspects of the system are working to the accurate configuration including drawings, interface control documents, and the design description documents
  • Act as the negotiator between multiple and sometimes conflicting interests in order to make sure the system as a whole is optimized
  • Working with launch vehicle customers and test sites, create interface definition and design specification documents from engineering documentation during all life-cycle phases of design, development, test and launch.
  • Effectively communicate development status, risks, and challenges
  • Track, evaluate and report on system metrics

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering or another technical field
  • 5+ years system development/integration experience
  • Knowledge of current systems engineering and integration tools and methodologies, in a safety-critical environment
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively in teams, demonstrated execution and coordination skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams through direct authority or through influence
  • Experience with systems engineering tools such as DOORS, DNG, Jama, or similar
  • Experience with Atlassian collaboration tools Jira and Confluence
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience with liquid rocket engines or propulsion
  • Experience in Valves, Hydraulics, or Electrical Systems (e.g., Instrumentation, Power Budgets, EMC/EMI, Controllers, Harnessing).
  • Experience with Environmental Testing (proof, leak, vibration, thermal, etc.) per SMC-S-016, MIL-STD-1540D or MIL-STD-810G.
  • Strong technical fundamentals in fluids, thermodynamics, vibroacoustics, and mechanical and electrical components
  • System Safety analysis experience including Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, and Functional Hazard Analysis
  • Demonstrated project leadership with project management skills
  • Demonstrated configuration management experience
  • Experience with failure investigations

Salary Range: $120,060 - $168,084 per annum, depending on location and qualifications.
