Overview

We are in search of a skilled supervisor to oversee the operations of the Test department within our organization. The Test department plays a crucial role in the debugging, setup, and evaluation of automated guided vehicles (AGVs). This position requires collaboration with various departments to implement and assess new product hardware/software solutions and enhance processes.

The Opportunity

This role is essential for ensuring interdepartmental coordination to deliver high-quality products that shape the future of material handling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise daily operations of the department with an emphasis on maintaining efficiency.
  • Collaborate with project engineers and managers to formulate Test Plans for customer AGV projects.
  • Manage the testing environment with a strong focus on safety, organization, and teamwork.
  • Troubleshoot software issues in automated vehicles and work with multiple departments to resolve quality concerns.
  • Document issues in the AGV build process for thorough root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Assist in the electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic debugging of vehicles and automation kits as required.
  • Enhance AGV application software by debugging and adding Test functionalities related to vehicle sequencing, safety systems, and hardware configuration.
  • Ensure product functionality and testing comply with internal quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate customer acceptance tests effectively.
  • Work alongside the Test Manager and other supervisors to align processes across facilities and provide training for team members.
  • Guarantee that all documentation and product testing are finalized before shipment.
  • Conduct performance evaluations of team members and establish SMART goals for their development.
  • Lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications

Education: A Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline is required.

Experience: A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in electromechanical systems within a production, testing, or automation setting is essential. Strong communication and organizational skills are necessary.

Skills: Ability to interpret mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic schematics. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 is required. Basic electro-mechanical assembly skills and familiarity with hand tools are necessary. Candidates should be capable of lifting up to 50 pounds and may need to travel up to 25% of the time.

Preferred Experience: Experience with automated guided vehicles is highly desirable. Familiarity with ISO 9001 or related quality systems is advantageous. Prior management or team leadership experience is preferred. Knowledge of software configuration and development, as well as exposure to scripting languages like C++, Visual Basic, or Python, is beneficial.
