Compensation: $100,000 to $125,000 annually.

Position Purpose:

The T&D Superintendent is tasked with overseeing, coordinating, and executing all Transmission and Distribution (T&D) functions in alignment with the company’s strategic goals. This role also encompasses responsibilities as the Customer Service Bureau and Vehicle Fleet Manager for the business unit, reporting operationally to the Manager of Operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Directing the workforce to achieve daily operational, maintenance, and construction objectives, including the installation and repair of mains, hydrants, valves, and services.
  • Establishing procedures and ensuring compliance across construction and transmission departments.
  • Conducting performance evaluations for team members as necessary.
  • Facilitating knowledge transfer among staff.
  • Efficiently managing company assets and resources.
  • Implementing policies for infrastructure management that balance capital and operational expenditures.
  • Overseeing capital and operational expense budgets.
  • Coordinating emergency response for repairs on a 24-hour basis.
  • Collaborating with other departments to schedule installations and maintenance activities.
  • Engaging with customers, contractors, and government agencies.
  • Documenting daily field reports, crew attendance, and monitoring overtime and leave.
  • Providing training and development for direct reports.
  • Encouraging resource sharing across teams.
  • Ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Adhering to budgetary constraints and regulatory requirements.
  • Leading and motivating team members.
  • Facilitating effective communication within the team and across departments.
  • Collaborating with Engineering to ensure successful implementation of capital projects.
  • Continuously enhancing systems and processes as measured by key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Developing and refining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Reviewing and auditing vendor invoices for accuracy.
  • Creating and updating training processes for new hires.
Safety Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring adherence to all safety policies.
  • Engaging staff in understanding safety protocols.
  • Conducting training sessions on safety topics.
  • Developing new safety SOPs relevant to the utility sector.
  • Maintaining annual safety training for staff.
  • Creating a safe working environment.
  • Documenting and investigating any workplace injuries.
  • Assisting in departmental safety training programs.
Central Service Bureau Duties:
  • Creating and maintaining SOPs.
  • Monitoring staffing levels and technology within budget constraints.
  • Training staff on new policies and procedures.
  • Managing emergency situations effectively.
  • Conducting performance reviews for team members.
  • Ensuring knowledge transfer among staff.
  • Adhering to budgetary and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED required; college degree preferred.
  • Technical degree desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Familiarity with Maintenance Management Systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing software.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in the water industry and knowledge of utility operations.
  • Management experience with a focus on cost control.
  • Ability to identify project risks and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent time management and planning skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills with contractors.
  • Ability to work in emergency situations.
Certifications and Licenses:
  • Valid local state driver's license required.
  • Ability to obtain necessary operator licenses.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to perform physical tasks in both field and office environments.
  • Capability to lift and carry moderate weights.
