Job Summary

The University of California, Davis Health is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Staff Pharmacist 2 to join our team. As a Staff Pharmacist 2, you will play a critical role in providing comprehensive pharmaceutical services to our patients and staff. This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive pharmaceutical services to patients and staff, including medication therapy management, patient education, and counseling.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of pharmacy policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest clinical research and developments in pharmacy practice.
Requirements
  • California Pharmacist License eligible and possess a valid license at the time of hire.
  • Minimum of 1 year of outpatient experience performing quality assurance (QA) and order verification.
  • Patient counseling experience.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Working knowledge of Medi-Cal Formulary and other third-party billing systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of current California Pharmacy Law and other Federal Regulation [e.g., Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA)] effecting the practice of pharmacy.
  • Numerical skills and ability to accurately perform pharmacy calculations.
  • Ability to interpret and understand physicians' orders, pharmacy, and nursing records.
  • Current knowledge of pharmacy terminology, generic/brand names, abbreviations and drugs on current hospital formulary.
  • Communication skills and ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Ability to independently exercise delegated authority to take action, and to recognize when it is appropriate to seek assistance from others, when limits of delegated authority have been reached.
Preferred Qualifications
  • American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Immunization Certification.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR.
  • Recent Outpatient Pharmacy experience working as a Registered Pharmacist within the last 2 years.
  • Experience working in a Hospital Outpatient Pharmacy.
  • Ability to lead technicians and establish priorities of workflow.
  • Computer skills that facilitate medication order entry and other basic clinical software programs.
