Job Summary

The University of California, Davis Health is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Pharmacist 2 to join our team in providing comprehensive dispensing and clinical pharmaceutical services to ambulatory patients. As a key member of our pharmacy team, you will be responsible for overseeing pharmacy technicians and other team members in performing technical and clerical functions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in drug distribution and ensure accurate and timely dispensing of medications.
  • Provide clinical services to patients, including medication therapy management and patient counseling.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to optimize patient outcomes and improve medication use.
  • Develop and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance pharmacy services.
  • Stay up-to-date with current California Pharmacy Law and other Federal Regulations affecting the practice of pharmacy.
Requirements
  • California Pharmacist License eligible and possess a valid license at the time of hire.
  • Minimum of 1 year of outpatient experience performing quality assurance (QA) and order verification.
  • Patient counseling experience.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Working knowledge of Medi-Cal Formulary and other third-party billing systems.
  • Knowledge and understanding of current California Pharmacy Law and other Federal Regulations affecting the practice of pharmacy.
  • Numerical skills and ability to accurately perform pharmacy calculations.
  • Ability to interpret and understand physicians' orders, pharmacy, and nursing records.
  • Current knowledge of pharmacy terminology, generic/brand names, abbreviations, and drugs on current hospital formulary.
  • Communication skills and ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to independently exercise delegated authority to take action and to recognize when it is appropriate to seek assistance from others.
Preferred Qualifications
  • American Pharmacists Association (APhA) Immunization Certification.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR.
  • Recent Outpatient Pharmacy experience working as a Registered Pharmacist within the last 2 years.
  • Experience working in a Hospital Outpatient Pharmacy.
  • Ability to lead technicians and establish priorities of workflow.
  • Computer skills that facilitate medication order entry and other basic clinical software programs.
