Job Summary:
This role involves performing advanced accounting functions for the Office of the Controller Division. Responsibilities include preparing financial statements, records, and reports, with a focus on budgeting and financial analysis. The position requires planning, reviewing, and analyzing financial data, preparing reports, and providing recommendations to resolve issues. The analyst will work under limited supervision and report to the Financial Operations Manager.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in accounting, finance, or business administration.
- Three years of professional experience in accounting, financial analysis, or budgeting.
- Experience with automated accounting systems is required; familiarity with CAPPS Financials is preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is necessary.
- Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understanding of financial analysis, budget control methods, and governmental accounting.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to perform financial analysis and prepare concise reports.
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods and operate standard office equipment.
Essential Job Functions:
- Plan and execute various fiscal functions, including accounting and financial reporting.
- Prepare and oversee annual operating budgets and financial statements.
- Maintain accurate records of expenditures and revenue.
- Review financial reports for accuracy and compliance.
- Assist in the preparation of agency budget instructions and legislative requests.
- Perform related duties and special projects as assigned.
