Position Overview:

The Youth and Young Adult Minister plays a vital role in shaping the spiritual journey of young individuals within the parish community.

Reporting Structure: Reports directly to the Director of Youth Ministry.

Employment Type and Compensation: Full-time position (40 hours/week); Non-Exempt; Compensation at $20/hour.

Key Responsibilities:

The Youth and Young Adult Minister is tasked with the vision and coordination of ministry efforts aimed at engaging young people from 6th to 12th grades, as well as their parents and young adults. Responsibilities include:

  • Organizing and leading weekly youth gatherings and young adult events.
  • Facilitating small group ministries and retreats.
  • Coordinating service projects, mission trips, and social activities.
  • Managing fundraising initiatives and outreach programs.
  • Overseeing digital content for the parish website and social media platforms.

Qualifications:

Educational Background: A college degree is required, preferably in Youth Ministry, Theology, or a related discipline. A minimum of one year of experience in youth ministry, whether in a volunteer or paid capacity, is essential. A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is also required.

Essential Skills:

The ideal candidate will possess a positive and supportive attitude towards the teachings of the Catholic Church. It is crucial to maintain a professional demeanor that reflects the values of the parish community and adheres to Catholic doctrine and morals.

Physical Demands:

Candidates must demonstrate visual acuity for both near and far distances, manual dexterity, and good hearing and speech capabilities. The role requires the ability to sit for extended periods, as well as standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, bending, lifting, and squatting as necessary. The candidate should be able to lift or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
