Overview
Position Title: Youth and Young Adult Minister
Reporting Structure: Reports to the Director of Youth Ministry
Employment Type and Compensation: Full-time ( 40 hours/week); Non-Exempt ; $20/hour
Key Responsibilities: The Youth and Young Adult Minister plays a crucial role in shaping and executing the parish's mission to engage young individuals from 6th to 12th grades, along with their parents, as well as young adults. This encompasses organizing middle school and high school youth groups, as well as young adult gatherings, social events, service initiatives, mission trips, retreats, and outreach programs.
Required Qualifications:
Educational Background and Experience: A college degree is essential (preferably in Youth Ministry, Theology, or a related discipline) along with a minimum of one year of experience in youth ministry, whether in a volunteer or paid capacity. A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is mandatory.
Core Duties:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Planning and facilitating weekly youth group meetings and young adult events.
- Leading small group ministries and retreats.
- Coordinating participation in events such as Steubenville of the Rockies and Respect Life initiatives.
- Overseeing service projects and mission trips.
- Managing fundraising efforts and social activities.
- Maintaining the parish website and bulletin, as well as social media and video content.
- Engaging in outreach to youth and young adults.
Additional Responsibilities:
Other tasks may be assigned by the supervisor as needed.
The candidate should demonstrate a positive and supportive attitude towards the Catholic Church, its teachings, and its mission. It is essential to refrain from public endorsement of any behavior or lifestyle that may bring discredit or scandal to the parish or contradict Catholic doctrine or morals.
Physical Demands:
The role requires visual acuity for both near and far distances, manual dexterity with proficient eye-hand coordination, good hearing, and clear speech. The ability to sit for extended periods, as well as to stand, walk, kneel, stoop, bend, lift, and squat as necessary to fulfill job duties, is essential. The candidate should be capable of lifting or moving objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
