Job Overview

Position Summary:

As a vital member of the Electrics Shop team, the Lead Video Production Specialist operates under the guidance of the Electrics Shop Supervisor to manage and execute video needs for all productions supported by the Production Department. Additionally, this role may involve assisting in various capacities within the Electrics Shop as directed by the Supervisor.

This is a non-exempt role with a salary range of $56,500 - $58,000 for a 42-week contract.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Video Designers to evaluate proposals and implement approved design scopes for all supported productions and events.
  • Prepare and manage all video-related documentation for productions in various venues.
  • Oversee crews during the production process, ensuring all video equipment is safely and correctly installed and focused.
  • Participate in production meetings, rehearsals, and performances as required to uphold the integrity and seamless operation of video functions.
  • Assist in determining appropriate crew calls and note sessions in conjunction with the Electrics Shop Supervisor and Video Designer.
  • Coordinate with lighting and scenery departments to establish projector locations and lensing for productions with limited video requirements.
  • Work alongside the venue Head Electrician to identify safe hanging positions, power, and cabling necessities.
  • Maintain an archive of all video production documentation.
  • Support the training of professional apprentices in maintenance, assistance, and operation roles.
  • Perform maintenance tasks regularly in all theaters and electrics shops.
  • Act as an electrician during load-ins, focus, and crew calls in other areas as time permits and as assigned by the Electrics Shop Supervisor.
Essential Qualifications:
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor in a fast-paced, high-pressure setting.
  • Commitment to principles of equity, diversity, inclusiveness, and belonging.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a Video Technician in a professional setting or related field.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of video playback systems, projectors, and lenses.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including Vectorworks and Q-Lab.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in an educational institution.
  • Background in a multi-purpose performance venue, particularly in a fly house with both manual and electric line sets.
  • Familiarity with theatrical rigging.
  • Experience in opera, drama, and dance productions.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD is advantageous but not mandatory.
