Principal Wealth Strategy Advisor

The Wealth Management Advisor is responsible for achieving revenue targets through the acquisition of new clientele and the retention and growth of an established portfolio. This role involves consulting and coordinating comprehensive wealth management solutions tailored for individuals, business proprietors, and families. Additionally, the advisor will mentor a select group of Private Client Advisors, providing guidance throughout the client relationship planning process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the client relationship team, ensuring clients have access to the firm's full range of resources and solutions. Collaborate closely with Client Managers, Private Banking, Investment Advisors, and Fiduciary Advisors to evaluate clients' financial situations, goals, and objectives, thereby determining appropriate solutions through the financial planning process. Prioritize clients' immediate and long-term needs based on thorough analysis.
- Lead the development of sales strategies aimed at expanding the client base. Promote and offer the complete suite of financial services provided by the firm to both existing and prospective clients.
- Facilitate team communication and activities. Propose innovative ideas and alternative wealth solutions by leveraging a team of specialists as necessary.
- Manage the sales pipeline and related activities to ensure a sufficient number of prospects are in the pipeline and progressing through the sales cycle to meet established sales objectives. Implement and deliver tailored solutions.
- Conduct client relationship review discussions with the advisory committee. Continuously manage and assess the relationship to ensure client goals and objectives are met.
- Comply with applicable compliance and operational risk controls in line with regulatory standards and company policies.
- Foster an inclusive environment that promotes diversity and reflects the values of M&T Bank.
- Uphold internal control standards, including the timely execution of internal and external audit recommendations and addressing any issues raised by external regulators.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
As the manager of a portfolio of client relationships, the Wealth Management Advisor is accountable for coordinating the activities of the relationship team (including Investment Advisors, Financial Advisors, Private Bankers, etc.) and is ultimately responsible for the growth and retention of that client base. The advisor focuses on the profitable expansion of fee revenue while upholding the highest ethical standards and adhering to a fiduciary culture. This role encompasses accountability for revenue growth, including the acquisition of new business and the ongoing management and retention of existing client relationships.

Education and Experience Required:
A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 9 years of sales experience in the financial services sector, or, in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 13 years of higher education and/or work experience, including at least 5 years of sales experience within the high net worth or ultra-high net worth client segment.
Demonstrated success in implementing wealth management strategies.
Education and Experience Preferred:
Securities licensing, CFP, CTFA, CPA designation.
MBA (Master's degree in Business Administration) or JD (Juris Doctor).
