Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced ChildWatch Attendant to join our team at Glow YMCA. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a safe and engaging environment for children, while also promoting their physical, intellectual, social, cultural, and emotional well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Implement curriculum within established guidelines and design daily lesson/activity plans to promote child development.
  2. Supervise children, classroom, and activities, ensuring a safe and healthy environment.
  3. Conduct ongoing observations and evaluations of each child, identifying areas of strength and weakness.
  4. Maintain positive relationships with parents, engaging them as volunteers and conducting regular conferences.
  5. Ensure program site and equipment are well-maintained and adhere to safety procedures.
  6. Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and training sessions.
  7. Work collaboratively with the staff team to plan and implement activities, promoting a positive and inclusive environment.
  8. Provide direct leadership to assigned groups, maintaining constant visual contact with children.
  9. Participate in daily activities, assisting children in completing tasks and assessing their abilities and developmental stages.
  10. Build enthusiasm for activities and programs, promoting a positive and engaging experience for children.
  11. Complete required documentation, including attendance, health, and wellness records.
  12. Keep program areas neat and organized, adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  13. Maintain friendly, positive, and professional relationships with children, parents, and staff, projecting a positive image of the YMCA.
  14. Follow work site requirements, including punctuality, dress code, and staff meeting attendance.
  15. Carry out tasks assigned by the Site or Program Director, supporting the overall goals and objectives of the program.
  16. Assist in program and YMCA recruitment and special events, promoting the organization's mission and values.
Requirements
  1. Meets educational and experience qualifications established by state law, including School Age Child Care Clearance.
  2. At least 18 years of age to work in Prime Time and Child Watch.
  3. High School diploma or GED preferred, with additional educational requirements as necessary.
  4. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, and New Employee Orientation and Child Abuse prevention training within 60 days of hire date.
  5. Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting, with ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
  6. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with diverse populations, including children, parents, and staff.
Physical Demands

The successful candidate must be able to plan, lead, and participate in activities, with vision, hearing, speech, and movement abilities to provide safe supervision of children at all times.
