Job Title: Payroll Specialist

Job Summary:

The Payroll Specialist is a key member of the finance team at Waséyabek Development Company, LLC. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date payroll records, processing employee data, and preparing reports to ensure compliance with federal regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain payroll information by collecting, calculating, and entering data into the payroll system.
• Process employee data, including new hires, terminations, changes, earnings, and withholdings.
• Prepare reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
• Balance earnings and deduction totals and correct out-of-balance conditions.
• Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
• Provide payroll information by answering questions and requests.
• Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
• Support the payroll and finance team with special projects.
• Conduct regular payroll audits.
• Stay abreast of changing payroll regulations and trends.

Requirements:

• 1+ years of experience in payroll or a related field.
• High school diploma.
• High attention to detail.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience in PeopleSoft.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
• Ability to pass an extensive background investigation, including personal and professional financial history, nationwide criminal record search, credit check, and other relevant background information deemed necessary by WDC.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate's degree.
• APA Certification.
• Certified Payroll Professional designation.
• Prior experience with integrated HRIS.
• Proven experience with highly sensitive, confidential data.
• Prior experience working with the DOE.
