As a Electro-Mechanical Systems Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of robotics and automation. You will be responsible for designing and developing electro-mechanical systems for the Tesla Bot program, ensuring that they meet product and system level requirements while optimizing for product attributes.

Job Description

The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with experience in CAD design, analysis, and testing. You will collaborate with other engineering teams to drive the pace and cross-functionality of the product, ensuring that all components and systems work seamlessly together.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electro-mechanical systems for the Tesla Bot program, including wire harnesses, jumpers, busbars, plastic/metal component design, integration in enclosures, and electronic component packaging.
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure that all components and systems work seamlessly together.
  • Conduct thorough analysis and testing of electro-mechanical systems to ensure that they meet product and system level requirements.
Requirements:
  • 2-4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Mechanical Engineering degree preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of materials, fabrication methods for low- and high-volume production.
  • Analytical background for successful design (tolerance stack-ups, solid mechanics, thermal, cost, and mass optimization).
  • Passion for electro-mechanical product design and finding simpler solutions to meet requirements.
  • Ability to present data/trade-offs to facilitate decision-making.
  • Experience taking projects from concept to production.
  • CAD experience, 2D and 3D (Catia preferred).
  • Understanding of analog and digital circuits (MOSFETs, op-amps, switching regulators, gate drivers, microcontrollers, SPI, I2C, power dissipation, etc.) preferred.
  • Experience with FFC's, FPC's, and rigid-flex technologies preferred.
