Job Summary
The Physician Assistant will be accountable and responsible for the following functions under the direction of the designated Physician:
- Assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patients with acute and/or chronic illness;
- Initiating consultations for the responsible physician, with the physician completing the evaluation and recommendations;
- Communicating directly with the designated Physician concerning patient daily activities.
Key Responsibilities
The Physician Assistant will perform the following duties:
- Assess patients' medical conditions and develop treatment plans;
- Conduct physical exams and order diagnostic tests as necessary;
- Prescribe medications and treatments as authorized by the supervising physician;
- Communicate with patients and their families to provide education and support;
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, the Physician Assistant must have:
- A Bachelor's Degree and a Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies;
- At least three to five years of experience practicing in a hospital setting;
- Current certification as a Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) in the State of Maryland and/or Delaware;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
