YOUR ROLE IN OUR SUCCESS

As a General Ledger Accountant, you will be accountable for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger. This includes ensuring the accurate assignment of all general account numbers and the timely reconciliation of various balance sheet accounts. You will review monthly financial statements and company reports necessary for both internal and external financial reporting to guarantee completeness and accuracy. Additionally, you will assist colleagues in the accounting department and across the organization in identifying and researching account transactions.

Your responsibilities will include maintaining financial records and ensuring that all financial transactions are accurately recorded. You will verify the correctness of entries to ledger accounts and reconcile subsidiary ledger accounts with the general ledger. You will prepare complex balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial reports while analyzing current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to forecast future revenues and expenses. You may also guide or review the work of support staff. A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is required, and your work will be both independent and collaborative, contributing to moderately complex aspects of projects.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

In this role, you will engage in daily activities and the month-end process to ensure the integrity of the general ledger. Your duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • Monitoring daily business activities related to general ledgers to proactively resolve issues before month-end close.
  • Preparing and entering journal entries in the ERP system for month-end closing, including assessments related to accruals, prepaids, reserve reviews, amortization, and freight tracking.
  • Preparing monthly reconciliations of key general ledger accounts and providing flux analysis.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional business teams to complete monthly closing activities.
  • Assisting the Finance and Accounting team in creating month-end general ledger and financial reports, as well as reviewing budget versus actual cost center reports.
  • Providing audit evidence and explanations to internal and external auditors as needed.
  • Working closely with Information Systems to enhance management reporting.
  • Ensuring all activities are properly documented for compliance purposes.
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvements.
  • Participating in accounting projects as assigned by the Accounting Manager.
  • Performing other related duties as reasonably assigned in the course of business.
  • Maintaining a strong commitment to quality in all objectives.
  • Driving and enabling change within the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR SUCCESS
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance with 2-4 years of general ledger experience or equivalent.
  • Background in accounting, including general ledger, account reconciliation, month-end close activities, and financial analysis.
  • Thorough understanding of sales and manufacturing functions.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with large ERP systems.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Capability to prioritize and manage multiple projects independently.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, responsible, and a collaborative team player.
