Job Overview

The Personal Training Manager is the business leader of the department, responsible for creating and supporting a team culture that drives operational excellence and delivers a superior member experience.

This role requires goal-oriented individuals who are results-driven, eager to interact with members, and excited to develop and manage a high-performing team of trainers. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to ensure proper department operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Business Leader: Manage trainers, including monthly performance development meetings, projections, calendar management, communication with clients and leads, and oversight of complimentary services delivery.
  • Conduct timely and relevant business management meetings to support trainer development.
  • Hold team members accountable for their business deliverables by setting targets, providing feedback, and offering support for progress.
  • Collaborate with Membership Advisors on PT sales takeovers.
  • Assume Manager-On-Duty responsibilities in the absence of the GM/AGM.

Operational Management

  • Lead the operational and sales components of New Hire Onboarding.
  • Provide PT business and sales coaching.
  • Utilize scheduling tools to create floor schedules and manage team service delivery.
  • Generate PT sales leads, schedule lead generation activities, and support trainer development to build a successful business.
  • Set goals in support of in-club special events and execute follow-up actions post-event.
  • Produce and host monthly PT department forums.
  • Implement and execute operational SOPs, including administrative duties related to client outreach and staff accountabilities.
  • Support trainers through financial planning regarding compensation plans.
  • Achieve monthly and annual department financial goals.
  • Proactively address business trends in fitness assessment conversions, client attrition, and training frequency.
  • Manage all trainers and coaches.

Client Relationship Management

  • Communicate with potential leads and clients.
  • Ensure client coverage across all tiers.
  • Manage all client pipelines, including new members.
  • Collaborate with second-level managers (if applicable) and oversee senior leadership to outline pipeline responsibilities.
  • Schedule new member assessments, including Tier X Assessments where offered.

Team Culture Leadership

  • Cultivate interdepartmental synergy with all club departments.
  • Manage optimal staffing targets to meet business needs, including interview and hiring processes.
  • Maintain a high-quality team adhering to brand standards and expectations.
  • Establish and maintain friendly and service standards for trainers in interactions with members and staff.
  • Identify, collaborate, and align key talent to advance trainer careers (MIT, Tier X, MIs).

Salary Information

$58,500 per year, plus opportunities to earn bonuses and commissions based on session conduct.
