Role Summary:

Under the supervision of the Imaging Services Director and Chief of Diagnostic Imaging, the Senior CT Technologist is responsible for executing radiographic diagnostic imaging procedures that assist healthcare providers in identifying diseases and injuries. This role involves operating radiographic equipment to generate high-quality images of the human body while ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts both specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures.
  • Demonstrates a high level of professionalism and empathy by explaining procedures to patients to alleviate concerns and ensure cooperation.
  • Prepares and positions patients effectively for imaging procedures.
  • Utilizes immobilization devices to capture optimal views of the specified body areas as requested by physicians.
  • Determines exposure factors based on patient metrics and the specific imaging requirements.
  • Adjusts equipment settings to achieve images with the necessary detail, density, and accuracy.
  • Operates mobile radiologic equipment in various settings, including operating rooms and emergency departments.
  • Assists radiologists and qualified physicians in fluoroscopic and specialized x-ray examinations.
  • Prepares images for evaluation by radiologists or requesting physicians.
  • Processes images, ensuring proper identification and adherence to quality control standards.
  • Performs routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on radiologic equipment, coordinating major repairs as necessary.
  • Implements radiation protection protocols to minimize exposure to patients and staff.
  • Maintains accurate records, logs, and reports of all work performed.
  • Trains new hires and students in radiologic procedures.
  • Acts in the capacity of Supervising Radiology Technologist when required.
  • Undertakes additional related duties as assigned.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not include supervisory duties.

Qualifications:
Experience

  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in CT or one year of experience in CT with an American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification in CT.
Education
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) is required.
License, Certification, Registration
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist - Fluoroscopy Certificate (California)
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist - Venipuncture Certificate (California)
  • Basic Life Support Certification
Additional Requirements:
  • ACLS certification when required for the position.
  • Ability to perform all general diagnostic and routine fluoroscopic duties on patients of all ages.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and comprehending instructions and correspondence.
  • Capable of effectively presenting information to individuals and groups with varying levels of knowledge in Radiology services.
  • Willingness to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment.
  • Refer to Position Specifications as outlined in the relevant collective bargaining agreement.
  • Radiologic Technologist Career Ladder Agreement applies.
  • California Mammography Certificate, when required for the position.
