Georgia Regional Hospital Savannah (GRHS) is seeking a qualified Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Primary Care team.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer or order diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests.
  • Develop comprehensive plans of care.
  • Examine clients to obtain information about their physical condition.
  • Instruct and counsel clients about prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
  • Interpret diagnostic test results for deviations from normal.
  • Make tentative diagnoses and decisions about management and treatment of clients.
  • Obtain, compile, and record client medical data, including health history, progress notes, and results of physical examination.
  • Perform therapeutic procedures, such as injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound care, and infection management.
  • Prescribe therapy or medication with physician approval.
  • Visit and observe clients on hospital rounds or house calls, updating charts, ordering therapy, and reporting back to physician.
  • May supervise support and/or lower-level employees.

Technical Competencies:

  • Knowledge of assessment tools, interviewing, and physical examination techniques.
  • Ability to formulate diagnosis based on examination and test results; able to interpret test results, identify deviations from norms, and intervene or make appropriate referrals.
  • Ability to assess, plan for, and provide basic nursing skills; knows procedures.
  • Ability to prescribe certain medications as part of a treatment plan, gaining physician approval when needed.
  • Ability to document problems and/or needs identified from the treatment plan; competent in completing treatment plans.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in nursing area of assignment from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years of experience in a related area.
  • A current license to practice as APRN in Georgia in the specialty area.
  • Prior experience in psychiatric specialty area requires a minimum of two years mental health experience.
  • Prior experience in medical specialty area requires a minimum of four years mental health experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited college or university.
  • Four years of general medicine experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Completion of a physician assistant training program of at least 24 months certified by the Accreditation Review Commission of PA, ARC-PA.
  • Certification to practice as a Physician Assistant by the Composite State Board of Medical Examiners (or eligibility to obtain within one year).
  • Two years of experience in a related area.
