Position Summary

We are currently seeking a Fire Protection Designer/Engineer to contribute to our projects, focusing on engineering, design, and specification of fire protection systems across various sectors, including Hospitality-Gaming, Entertainment, and Science & Technology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proficient in Revit and CAD for fire protection drafting.
  • Create sections, riser diagrams, and elevations for complex equipment and piping layouts.
  • Determine equipment room dimensions during the Schematic Design and Design Development phases.
  • Ensure drawings and specifications align with project scope.
  • Modify specifications to meet project requirements.
  • Select and schedule equipment with minimal supervision.
  • Engage with vendors to clarify specification needs.
  • Evaluate contractor pricing and cost estimates critically.
  • Maintain the Engineering Book for assigned projects.
  • Address Requests for Information (RFIs) and review submittals accurately.
  • Manage design processes to align with project timelines across multiple projects.
  • Resolve installation challenges on-site for fire protection systems.
  • Conduct independent site surveys.
  • Research codes to ensure compliance with local regulations and engage with code officials.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of various NFPA code sections and their annual updates.
  • Draft new specification sections and develop details as necessary for project needs.
  • Implement risk management strategies to mitigate exposure to issues.
  • Compose scope of work narratives and basis of design documents.
  • Prepare studies and reports related to fire protection systems for various projects.
  • Select fire pumps and accessories to ensure proper performance and layout fire pump rooms independently.
  • Direct flow tests at hydrants or hose connections.
  • Understand and apply gas suppression, deluge, pre-action systems, and high-rise design principles.
  • Basic knowledge of Factory Mutual standards and requirements.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in fire protection design for commercial buildings, preferably in hospitality, themed entertainment, science & technology, or healthcare.
  • Preferred Engineering Degree (BS in Architectural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, or equivalent).
  • EIT License (Engineer in Training) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in REVIT MEP and AutoCAD.
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings and project site evaluations.
