We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Mental Health Technician to join our team at Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center. As a Mental Health Technician, you will play a vital role in providing quality mental health care and education services to adolescents aged 11-17 who are experiencing behavioral, emotional, educational, family, and social challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise patients in treatment, recreation, educational settings, and other activities of daily living to assess changes in their social behaviors and clinical status.
- Ensure patient safety in the facility and understand and use the least restrictive interventions per facility policy.
- Document patients' behaviors, conditions, and progress in a manner prescribed by policy and clinical standards.
- Take and record vital signs, both manually and with equipment.
- Follow therapeutic interventions outlined by the treatment team for each patient and maintain awareness of patient's individualized plan of care.
- Supervise and assist patients with activities of daily living (ADL) as needed.
- Participate in verbal de-escalation and/or therapeutic crisis intervention with physically aggressive patients.
- Check patient for contraband and manage patient belongings.
- Bachelor's Degree in psychology, sociology, social work, human services, or a related field.
- Preferred six months of experience in residential psychiatry or other childcare facility/agency experience in a comparable position.
- Ability to pass a Level 2 Background Screening to work in Healthcare (AHCA) and Pre-employment Drug Test.
- Must be able to set and maintain therapeutic distance with clients and maintain therapeutic boundaries during treatment and following discharge.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
- Physical agility to manage patients, including pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
