Job Title: Communication Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to join our team at Shelby County Public Schools. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, planning, and implementing intervention strategies to enhance students' academic progress and communication skills.

Estimated Salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year based on experience and qualifications.

Job Description:
As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will evaluate students referred by teachers, parents, principal, special programs supervisor, or county school psychologist to determine if a communication disorder exists and intervention is warranted. You will also screen incoming kindergarten students to determine the need for further evaluation prior to the beginning of the school year. Additionally, you will arrange for hearing screenings of students enrolled in K-3 grades, make medical referrals for students who fail these screenings, and complete necessary work. Your responsibilities will include planning and implementing intervention strategies as indicated on Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), scheduling, conducting, or attending Annual Review Committee (ARC) meetings with parents and appropriate personnel, providing documentation and analysis of student IEP progress, maintaining due process folders according to guidelines, re-evaluating students enrolled in speech-language therapy to determine the need for continuation of services, and serving as a resource teacher for communication and language strategies. You will also complete paperwork and record-keeping per Medicaid guidelines for direct speech-language therapy services.
