Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated School-Based Occupational Therapist to enhance student learning and development by addressing their functional needs within the educational environment. This role is crucial in facilitating students' growth and academic achievements through targeted therapeutic interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assessment and Evaluation:
    • Perform thorough evaluations to determine students' requirements concerning motor skills, sensory processing, and daily living activities.
    • Employ diverse assessment methodologies to collect pertinent data and formulate personalized therapy strategies.
  • Individualized Education Plans (IEPs):
    • Collaborate with the educational team to create and execute Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
    • Establish specific, measurable objectives for each student's occupational therapy needs and devise focused intervention approaches.
  • Therapeutic Interventions:
    • Deliver direct therapy services aimed at enhancing students' motor skills, sensory integration, and daily living capabilities.
    • Implement evidence-based methodologies and tailored therapeutic activities to meet individual student needs and encourage participation in school activities.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork:
    • Engage with teachers, special education personnel, and other school professionals to incorporate therapy goals into everyday classroom practices.
    • Provide support and training to educators on strategies to assist students with occupational therapy requirements.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain precise and current records of student evaluations, progress documentation, and treatment plans.
    • Compile comprehensive reports for educational meetings, ensuring all documentation adheres to regulatory and organizational standards.
  • Family and Community Engagement:
    • Effectively communicate with parents and guardians regarding student progress and collaborate on strategies to foster learning and development at home.
    • Participate in school and community initiatives to raise awareness of occupational therapy and advocate for student needs.
  • Professional Development:
    • Commit to continuous professional growth by staying informed about advancements in occupational therapy practices.
    • Attend relevant workshops and conferences to enhance skills and knowledge in the field.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure: Valid licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Arkansas, along with NBCOT certification.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a school environment or with children is preferred. New graduates with strong clinical training and a passion for educational settings are encouraged to consider this opportunity.
