Job Summary

The Senior Urban Planner will be responsible for assisting with the development and execution of our regional marketing strategy, working closely with our Planning team to drive business growth and deliver high-quality projects. This role requires a deep understanding of urban planning principles, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities
  • Design and manage planning and urban design projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results;
  • Demonstrate creative thinking abilities and contribute to Firmwide design excellence and problem-solving;
  • Develop and maintain positive industry relationships, working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and consultants;
  • Incorporate Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects, promoting eco-friendly practices and minimizing environmental impact;
  • Participate in managing client relationships, providing exceptional service and ensuring client satisfaction;
  • Engage in regional planning marketing and business development opportunities, preparing proposals, interviews, public presentations, and other related materials;
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices, participating in planning industry activities, speaking, presenting, and writing to enhance our practice's standards;
  • Ensure HOK standards for project management are met, collaborating with colleagues to achieve shared goals;
  • Actively promote a collaborative and innovative culture, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment;
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in urban design, urban planning, or landscape architecture; a Master's degree is preferred;
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in urban planning, with a strong background in sustainability, integrated design, and LEED guidelines;
  • Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Integrated Project Delivery (IPD);
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and provide high-quality service to clients;
  • Proven ability to present, effectively sell, and negotiate services;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in Revit and graphic software such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketchup, GIS, Ecotect, and InDesign;
  • Registration with current license required if offered in your region;
  • LEED AP or GA required within 12 months of employment.

Salary Range

The estimated salary range for this position in Denver, CO is $80,000 - $120,000, based on experience, qualifications, education, and location. Other compensation may include a discretionary bonus.
