Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the deployment of functional safety processes in alignment with Agile methodologies and architectural complexities.
  • Oversee the definition and implementation of functional safety processes while developing comprehensive plans for ISO26262 compliance for key projects.
  • Direct the functional safety team to align with business priorities and commitments.
  • Analyze the implications of ISO26262 updates and promote functional safety awareness across various segments.
  • Facilitate communication between project teams and upper management, providing feedback and guidance as necessary.
  • Establish and implement processes that align Garmin's safety culture with ISO26262:2018, supporting external audits.
  • Guide safety management activities throughout all project phases, including hazard analysis, DFMEA, FMEDA, and fault tree analysis.
  • Conduct reviews and assessments to ensure adherence to functional safety standards during product development.
  • Lead discussions regarding functional safety in RFQ meetings with customers and management.
  • Assess staffing needs based on product plans and manage recruitment efforts accordingly.
  • Develop and maintain processes and tools that enhance the quality and scalability of the team's services.
  • Act as a primary contact for safety-related topics, optimizing collaboration and expertise regarding OEM processes.
  • Provide leadership in hiring, training, and evaluating engineering talent.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to address associate relations issues and conduct performance appraisals.
  • Define and coordinate the creation of all functional safety work products in accordance with ISO 26262:2018.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within engineering processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline such as computer science, electrical, or mechanical engineering.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in the semiconductor, automotive, OEM, or related industries.
  • Proven experience leading functional safety development processes in compliance with ISO 26262.
  • In-depth knowledge of automotive development processes and the V-Model system development framework.
  • Experience with functional safety tools and requirements management tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively.
  • Experience in an Agile development environment and familiarity with CMMI and Automotive SPICE.
