Job Description

The Virginia Department of Transportation is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Professor of Computer/Electronics Engineering Technology to join our team. As an Adjunct Faculty Member, you will be responsible for teaching a variety of courses in computer engineering technology, including digital electronics, electronic devices, electronic circuits, computer networks, wireless communications systems, industrial control systems, programmable logic controllers, and embedded systems/micro-controllers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach a variety of courses in computer engineering technology, including digital electronics, electronic devices, electronic circuits, computer networks, wireless communications systems, industrial control systems, programmable logic controllers, and embedded systems/micro-controllers.
  • Contribute to program and curriculum development.
  • Advise and mentor students, and participate in recruitment activities.
  • Demonstrate self-motivation to engage with industry on applied research projects.
  • Participate in ongoing assessment and accreditation activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by department chair.

Requirements:

  • An earned B.S. degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • An earned M.S. degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrates considerable communication skills, and must have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and proven ability to work collaboratively with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • An earned Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. candidate in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Experience in teaching on the higher education level, P.E. licensure, and ABET accreditation experience.
  • Have relevant industrial experience.
  • Experience with Blackboard Technology.
  • Demonstrable track record of successful teaching and scholarship.

  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
