Job Title: Engineering Technician VI

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Technician VI to provide engineering and technical support to Naval Information Warfare Center (NIWC) Atlantic for the USCG Integrated Product Team (IPT). The successful candidate will be responsible for engineering, integration, and technical services required to outfit Coast Guard cutters with C5I systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and prepare specifications for complex equipment or systems
  • Modify, maintain, or repair electronics equipment or systems to ensure proper functioning
  • Set up and operate specialized or standard test equipment to diagnose, test, or analyze the performance of electronic components, assemblies, or systems
  • Review electrical engineering plans to ensure adherence to design specifications and compliance with applicable electrical codes and standards
  • Assemble, test, or maintain circuitry or electronic components, according to engineering instructions, technical manuals, or knowledge of electronics
  • Compile and maintain records documenting engineering schematics, installed equipment, installation or operational problems, resources used, repairs, or corrective action performed

Requirements:

  • Secret Clearance required
  • Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology, math, or science; or Formal electronics training from: Technical School, or Class A or B military school in electronics or communications; or four-year electronics apprentice program; or High School diploma or GED
  • Five (5) years of technical experience in support of Navy or Coast Guard C4ISR projects
  • 12 years with degree/formal training or 14 years with HS/GED of practical experience to include: design, preparation and modification of engineering documents, and drawings

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of safety standards and practices, including OSHA regulations and protocols for working with hazardous materials or electrical equipment
  • Physical dexterity and stamina to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, maneuvering equipment, and working in confined spaces
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment, with a focus on precision in installations, repairs, and maintenance activities
  • Basic troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve system or equipment issues
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals for guiding installations, repairs, and maintenance
