Position Overview

The role of Junior Accountant involves a variety of essential financial tasks aimed at maintaining the fiscal integrity of our organization. The successful candidate will work within the Financial Operations Directorate, contributing to the accurate and timely management of financial resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establishing new general ledger accounts and linking them within the accounting system.
  • Managing the opening and closing of accounting periods.
  • Overseeing project administration, including setup and modifications.
  • Recording and reconciling cash transactions with the general ledger.
  • Reconciling accounts and initiating necessary adjustments.
  • Preparing and entering journal entries into the accounting system.
  • Completing month-end closing tasks according to established timelines.
  • Submitting reconciliations to corporate finance.
  • Performing additional accounting functions as needed.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, candidates must possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business from an accredited institution, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong analytical abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • The capacity to meet strict deadlines in a dynamic work environment.
  • Effective teamwork skills and a willingness to learn new technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve financial discrepancies.
  • Good time management skills to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • A customer service-oriented approach with a positive demeanor.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • A minimum of two years of experience in general accounting, particularly in general ledger management and account reconciliations.
