Job Overview

Under the guidance of the Central Shops Supervisor or District Equipment Supervisor, this role is essential for overseeing the upkeep of all vehicles allocated to the Central Office headquarters or District.

Key Responsibilities

The following duties are representative of the types of work performed. This list is not exhaustive, and related or additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed. The Department reserves the right to modify job descriptions based on operational requirements. The Arkansas Department of Transportation operates under an "at will" employment policy.
  • Perform routine tasks such as fueling vehicles, washing, changing oil, lubricating, repairing tires, and steam cleaning vehicles on a daily basis.
  • Conduct daily inventory checks of supplies and maintain accurate service transaction records.
  • Occasionally inspect batteries and fluid levels including water, brake, transmission, and power steering fluids.
  • Ensure cleanliness of the steam cleaner's water drain and surrounding area.
  • Deliver timely service and effectively coordinate and schedule tasks to minimize delays for equipment and personnel.
  • Maintain precise stock controls and inventory management.
  • Provide training and direct support to Station Attendants.
Qualifications

Education and Experience: Must possess the ability to read and communicate in English effectively to engage with the public, comprehend highway traffic signs and signals, respond to official inquiries, and accurately complete reports and records.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proficient in basic arithmetic operations and capable of accurately recording numerical data. Familiarity with oil and filter types for each vehicle, as well as the ability to lubricate all serviced vehicles. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential.

Licenses and Certifications: A valid driver's license is required.
