To excel in this position, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each key responsibility effectively. The qualifications outlined below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for success.
Education and Experience:
A strong enthusiasm for basketball and familiarity with contemporary basketball research is essential. A bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline such as data science, statistics, economics, mathematics, or engineering is required, with a master's degree preferred. A minimum of 1 year of relevant experience showcasing the ability to leverage data for impactful outcomes is necessary.
Proficient knowledge of basketball is advantageous.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Python for data analysis and statistical modeling.
- Competence in SQL and database navigation.
- Experience in constructing machine learning model pipelines, including exploratory analysis, feature engineering, model specification, validation, and implementation.
- Familiarity with data visualization and business intelligence tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Commitment to fundamental software engineering principles, including version control and code modularization, with the ability to manage tight deadlines and shifting priorities.
Ability to define problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Competence in interpreting a wide range of technical instructions and managing various abstract and concrete variables.
Analytical Reasoning:
Capability to employ logic and reasoning to assess the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to challenges.
Communication Skills:
Strong verbal and written communication abilities, with the capacity to adapt communication styles for diverse audiences. Effective facilitation skills and attention to detail are essential, along with the ability to develop precise written materials and follow up on feedback to ensure positive outcomes.
