Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mathematics Instructional Coach to join our team at Mobile County Public School System. As a Mathematics Instructional Coach, you will play a critical role in supporting the improvement of mathematics instruction and student achievement in our elementary schools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the development and implementation of a strategic plan for mathematics coaching and instruction to improve student achievement in mathematics.
  • Collaborate with school principals and faculty to establish and implement a coaching model that focuses on Tier 1 instruction and early numeracy interventions.
  • Facilitate professional learning opportunities for teachers, including job-embedded coaching, modeling lessons, and targeted observation to collect data.
  • Model evidence-based mathematics instructional and intervention strategies for teachers.
  • Mentor and coach teachers continuously to improve their mathematics instruction and student outcomes.
  • Assist teachers in using data to differentiate mathematics instruction and identify students with misconceptions or dyscalculia.
  • Monitor student progress in mathematics through benchmark assessments and make recommendations for modifying instruction based on individual student needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers and grade-level teams to develop rigorous tasks, lessons, and assessments aligned with grade-level mathematics content standards.
  • Assist teachers in administering early numeracy screeners and diagnostic assessments, and advocating for family and community engagement in mathematics.
  • Participate in ongoing learning opportunities to grow in knowledge, skills, and expertise in mathematics.
Requirements
  • Hold a valid Alabama professional certification in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or Special Education.
  • Hold a master's degree or have completed professional development recommended by the Elementary Mathematics Task Force.
  • Have a minimum of five years' experience as an early childhood education, elementary education, or special education teacher.
  • Demonstrate expertise in mathematics instruction and intervention, including dyscalculia interventions.
  • Possess effective oral and written communication skills, time management and organizational skills, and a high level of integrity and commitment to job responsibilities.
