We are seeking experienced police officers to join our team at the City of Colorado Springs Police Department. As a police officer, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, responding to emergency calls, and providing assistance to the community.
Key Responsibilities:- Patrol assigned sectors in marked police vehicles.
- Respond to calls from citizens and provide assistance as needed.
- Solve problems and resolve conflicts in a professional and courteous manner.
- Locate and apprehend suspects of crimes.
- Issue traffic and criminal summonses as necessary.
- Intervene in disturbances, fights, and altercations.
- Pursue fleeing suspects on foot or in vehicles.
- Climb, crawl, jump, and/or run to pursue suspects and protect life.
- Push, pull, lift, and/or carry persons and/or suspects who may be injured or unconscious.
- Make forceful arrests.
- Must be currently certified as a Level I Peace Officer in Colorado or similarly qualified as a Police Officer in another state or federal jurisdiction.
- Must have at least three years of paid full-time police officer experience as a patrol officer within the last five years.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must not have been convicted of a felony.
- Must not have been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.
- Must meet all requirements necessary to certify with the Colorado POST Board.
- Must have an Associate Degree or 60 college semester hours.
- Must be able to lawfully possess a firearm.
- Must pass the Physical Readiness Test and maintain good physical condition.
- Must have a valid driver's license.
- Must have native-level proficiency in the English language.
