Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Process Safety Specialist to join our team at Trinity Consultants Engineering & EHS Workforce Solutions. As a Process Safety Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe operation of our manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process Hazard Analysis (PHA): Conduct thorough PHA studies for applicable processes, utilizing Risk Assessment techniques to develop recommendations and track to completion.
  • Management of Change (MOC) and Engineering Change Request (ECR): Assist area personnel with MOC and ECR core team hazard assessments and documentation to ensure that changes are reflected in process safety information (PSI).
  • Incident Investigation: Lead investigations of site process safety incidents, utilizing root cause analysis concepts and developing appropriate corrective actions.
  • Process Safety Support: Work with area Operations and R&D to provide process safety support, including daily interaction with area engineers, process specialists, and process leaders.
  • Technical Expertise: Provide technical expertise to all departments to help evaluate risks and resolve process safety issues, including recommendations from PHAs, audits, and incident investigations.
  • Documentation and Training: Write specifications for new equipment required to ensure safe operation of manufacturing processes, write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and train operating personnel on proper use of equipment.
  • Professional Development: Participate in North American Process Safety Network with other businesses to learn, assess, and adopt best practices with respect to operational safety, and participate in global Process Safety Network to set corporate guidance on process safety.

Requirements

  • Education: BS Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Polymer, or equivalent engineering degree.
  • Experience: 3-5+ years of experience as an engineer, preferably in medical device, chemical operations, or associated industry.
  • Skills: Hands-on experience with chemical and polymer processing/manufacturing equipment, ability to take responsibility for several projects at one time with an emphasis on quality and organization, good mechanical aptitude, and ability and willingness to perform hands-on work.
  • Software Proficiency: Experience with simulation software (Solidworks, MoldFlow, or equivalent), Excel, Project, Word, and other business/engineering software.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Solid understanding of codes and regulations related to chemical and polymer manufacturing environment, with particular skill in those areas related to safety.
