POSITION OVERVIEW
In this role, you will provide essential guidance and support to the TAI Business Unit in the realms of Imports and Exports, with a primary focus on compliance and logistics. Reporting to LRTC (Corporate Compliance), you will collaborate closely with Business Units on prospective new ventures, ensuring that appropriate controls are integrated into standard business processes and workflows. Additionally, you will play a key role in promoting operational efficiency within the Business Unit, identifying cost-reduction initiatives, evaluating strategic sourcing possibilities, and leveraging both new and existing U.S. Free Trade Agreements. Your insights will also help uncover opportunities for generating new business by applying established practices to deliver innovative solutions for our valued clients.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct comprehensive audits to assess compliance with import and export regulations.
- Oversee the setup of new items to meet compliance requirements, including HTS, Schedule B, ECCN, FTAs, PGAs, and auditing existing materials.
- Serve as the primary contact for all matters related to Import and/or Export compliance, establishing standardization and best practices. Identify and escalate any inefficient processes or issues for resolution.
- Develop and revise internal and external Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Identify opportunities to minimize and recover costs through specific government programs aimed at both current operations and business growth (e.g., countries with preferential duties, drawbacks, export filings, etc.).
- Facilitate ongoing training for TAI's Business Sections to achieve the objectives outlined in this job description.
- Generate and analyze necessary reports (ACE, IPTR, etc.).
- Support the Corporate Compliance group in standardization and database consolidation to aid in the implementation of the Trade Management System.
- Enhance professional and technical knowledge by participating in internal and external educational workshops, formal training, reviewing industry publications, and expanding professional networks.
- Collaborate with suppliers and customers to optimize the import and/or export processes from both compliance and cost perspectives.
- Conduct standardized audits to evaluate compliance in import and export areas, identifying opportunities for improvement and eliminating redundant processes, including logistics.
A minimum of 2 years of experience is required, along with a solid understanding of 19 CFR (CBP rules and regulations). The ability to read, interpret, and comprehend regulatory requirements is essential, as is strong reading comprehension and excellent written and verbal communication skills. A Bachelor's Degree may substitute for experience.
Proficiency in import and export programs, including Free Trade Agreements, CFR Title 19, ACE, HTS classification, and PGA regulations is mandatory.
Preferred qualifications include experience with HTS Classification, particularly in the automotive and chemical sectors.
